Warneford Meadow Apple Day - a magical autumn wonderland!

Updated: Oct 16, 2019

The leaves are turning, air a little cooler and so it is time for our next DRARA event of the year: Warneford Meadow Apple Day, on Sunday 13th October, 12-4pm. It's a wonderful chance to enjoy the amazing meadow and apple orchard on our doorstep and team up with your neighbours to gather and press apples under the expert guidance of Rupert Griffin from Tiddly Pommes. Bring a container, and you can take away some of the free juice! (We can’t start pressing until we’ve collected a lot of apples, so please come along early if you can).

Our Apple Bake Competition has become a firm favourite! To enter the competition, make any cake, bake, pie or biscuits that includes apples, and make sure it is large enough to be tasted by a number of judges!

In addition there will be:

  • tea and cake stall

  • a conker competition (please bring pre-strung, untreated conkers!)

  • apple bake competition, with prizes (ideally produced using apples from the orchard)

  • bottled apple juice for sale produced from apples in the orchard

So put the date in your diary, and plan your baking – any contributions for the cake stall would also be really appreciated.

We will be raising money for new fruit trees to plant in the orchard, so bring along some change for the competitions and tea stall (or just a donation!) if you can.

Please get in touch if you are able to help on the day, or bake for the cake stall – contact Tamasin at events@drara.org.uk.
