Return of Warneford Meadow Apple Day!

With the wonderfully sunny Film in the Street only a couple of weeks ago, we are now planning our next autumnal gathering:

Warneford Meadow Apple Day, on Sunday 10th October, 12-4pm

For those of you that have been before, it is going to be a bit different this year, as there'll be no juicing on site (for obvious reasons). But the orchard is looking more beautiful than ever, thanks to a team from Turning Point who will also be involved in Apple Day this year, and the apples still need picking!

  • We are aiming to pick the rest of the apple harvest, for two fantastic causes: Warneford Hospital, and The Porch. There will be plenty of apples for all the helpers to take some home too!

  • Tea and cake stall, to raise money for orchard activities

  • Delicious Porch Preserves for sale too! (please bring cash - no card facilities)

  • and late addition...

Make your own Apple Picker! We will be inventing and upcycling in the orchard, creating our own apple pickers... whose will be the most efficient, the most fun or the most downright weird?! - Some materials will be available, but any contributions of your own materials would be appreciated (think bamboo sticks, wire coat hangers, plastic milk/fizzy drink bottles, old cloth bags...), or just bring along your finished inventions - just google 'make your own apple picker' for some inspiration! Small prizes for the best efforts!

We'll have information about the orchard, opportunities to spiralise apples... fun for all the family!

A few requests:

  • Please bring along any apple picking equipment that you have

  • Donations of cakes and biscuits for the cake stall would be really appreciated - please contact Tamasin (events@drara.org.uk) or bring along on the day

  • If you can help on the day with setting up or on the stalls, please get in touch with Tamasin

Come along to help pick, explore the orchard and meadow, buy jams from The Porch, or just to get together with your community over a cup of tea and a slice of cake. We look forward to seeing you in the orchard!
